There are several types of arthritis and the effects may range from occasional joint stiffness and discomfort to intense pain and severe joint immobility. BAPTIST HEALTH Rehabilitation Institute offers a program which addresses the needs of individuals experiencing the physical and functional limitations of arthritis. This program includes:
- Education in joint protection during exercise and functional activities.
- Pain management.
- Strengthening and flexibility exercises.
- Ambulation training and fall prevention education.
- Energy conservation techniques.
- Training in daily living activities such as cooking, dressing, home
making, etc.
- Pool therapy
- Development of home exercises and activity programs.
- Dietary counseling.
- Psychosocial adjustment counseling.
- Therapeutic Recreation activities.
- Resources for home and vehicle modifications.
