Brock Wilson
After Brock's accident, he was airlifted to BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center - Little Rock.

"And when they said airlifted I knew how serious it was. I come up here and Dr. Redding give me the choice. Either do the surgery or Brock wouldn't have much chance to live and if he did do it Brock would be paralyzed on all of his left side. I think that was the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life.", says Brock's mom, Nancy Wilkie.

It was just a year earlier that Brock was playing football for Vilonia High School and celebrating high school graduation with his family. Family is important to Brock especially his mom Nancy... who after Brock's graduation, moved with her husband from Violinia to Tyler Texas. Fortunately she was in town visiting Brock when the accident happened.

Brock spent his first thirty one days in a coma in the intensive care unit. All the medical terms aside, he's lucky to be alive. Later he was transferred to BAPTIST HEALTH Rehabilitation Institute on August 21 to hopefully regain the use of his body. Brock's father Mike Wilson, from New Orleans, also spent hours around the hospital and was on hand for Brock's first day of physical therapy with Leah Lenz.

After a month of therapy, there are no words to truly describe Brock's improvement. Not only has his physical strength improved, but also his speech. Christy Risius is one of several therapists who have been working with Brock and every time his mom was by his side...she never left the hospital.

Brock certainly credits Physical Therapists Leah Lenz and Christy Risius, among others, for helping him learn to walk again...but, he's quick to tell you that his Speech Therapist, Michelle Cox, is special too.

After eighty-nine days since Brock first arrived at BAPTIST HEALTH, Brock had his final day of therapy. Brock was able to return home to Conway.

"I can go on for a long time when I have a good patient who does real well. It keeps you going and gets you through the harder patients. You remember Brock did it and other people did it. He's one of the one's I'll remember for all the good reasons. There are some you'll just never forget. And, he's one of them. Some you take into your heart and he's one of those for me.", says Michelle Cox.

And as Brock said, his mom hasn't been the only one walking by his side. "I thank the lord everyday because he's blessed me...over and over. I almost died 5 times...now I'm sitting here talking and walking. I trust the Lord and that's what has brought us this far. I couldn't have made it without him. I think God has a plan for me. I don't know what it is yet, but he does."
